How bond.co.za makes money

Last updated: 9 October 2026

The short version

Everything on bond.co.za — the guides, the calculators, the rate and cost data — is free for you to use. You never pay us anything.

When a home loan is arranged through bond.co.za and the bond registers, the bank that granted the loan pays us a once-off commission. That is how the business earns revenue.

What this means for you

The commission is paid by the bank, not by you. It is not added to your loan amount, and it does not change the rate or fees the bank quotes you. The banks’ own quotes and the estimates in our calculators are the same whether or not you go ahead through us.

What we don’t do

bond.co.za is not a bank and does not grant home loans. Any approval, rate or offer is decided by the registered bank after its own credit assessment — nothing on this site is a guarantee of approval, a rate, or a timeline.

Editorial independence

The commission model applies at every major South African bank, so our guides, calculators and reviews describe offerings as they are — including the weak ones. Content is never written to favour a lender that pays commission.
